There are many important issues facing our district: homelessness, fair housing, metal health care, families in crisis, domestic violence and drug abuse.  These dilemmas, in turn, have an impact on public safety, our schools, and the general well being of our community.  Our district needs leadership that has a proven track record and demonstrated genuine concern for addressing issues such as these.  I reiterate an earlier statement that there is not another candidate in this race who has done more to serve people in need.

Our district has many good people who are working tirelessly to perform similar service.  They deserve a council representative who can encourage and support their local inititives.  Government is not the sole solution for these social problems.  Only by working with the local non-profit community can we make this a better place for all of it’s residents.  The Family Crisis Center of Baltimore County http://www.familycrisiscenter.net/ is an example working to assist individuals and families dealing with domestic violence.  Baltimore County unfortunately had the highest rate of deaths due to domestic violence in 2009 in the State of Maryland.  To break the cycle we must have mentoring and early intervention begin at the elementary school level.
